50 Cent is being sued over a song which he released three years ago online for free.
50 Cent is being sued for a song sampled in a mixtape he released three years ago.
According to TMZ, the lawsuit was filed in New York by Robert Poindexter of The Persuaders. Poindexter claims that Fif used a snippet from the band’s song “Love Gonna Pack Up and Walk Out” on his song “Redrum.”
Because 50 posted the song online for free, Poindexter feels like 50 thinks he has immunity from any copyright claims.
Poindexter says in the suit, “Fifty Cents [sic] has not denied the infringement, but appears to be basing his defense solely on a frivolous and immaterial claim that the illegal version is not being commercially exploited, but is given away for free.”
Poindexter is suing 50 Cent for unspecified statutory damage and asking for $600,000 in punitive damages, plus interest.

Rick Ross’ boat was pulled over by officers who noticed the scent of marijuana.
TMZ reports that Rick Ross was close to getting arrested this past Thursday for marijuana.
A rep for Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says that officers flagged down Rozay’s yacht on Thursday after noticing the smell of weed.
The cops boarded the boat and searched it, but found nothing. One of the Ross’ entourage admitted to smoking weed, however claimed he threw the marijuana overboard when he saw the cops.
It worked, since no weed was found, no arrests were made. There will be no further investigation.
While Suge Knight’s wild speculations that Tupac may still be alive earned him a lot of publicity today, it looks like that wasn’t the only memorable soundbite he dropped during his interview with 93.5 KDay.
The former Death Row head honcho also threatened to put hands on Rick Ross over his song “Tupac Back.”
Later in the interview with 93.5′s Tattoo and Cee Cee, Suge Knight said that he will “beat the dog shit out of Rick Ross” if their paths ever cross. He explained that while he’s not bitter to Rozay and actually enjoys his music, he feels it’s extremely disrespectful that the MMG rapper would make a song titled “Tupac Back” when he maintains ties to Diddy, who Knight attributes to the murder of Tupac.
“I can’t sit up here and say I’m bitter to Rick Ross, ‘cus like anybody else, we don’t know Rick Ross,” Suge said. “That’s a guy who uses somebody else’s name. This guy comes from being a correctional officer. I don’t got nothing negative [against him] personally, I just feel like he do do good music, and you can’t take that from him. That boy got bars, he’s gonna write…at the same time, I feel like there’s a line you cross, and Rick Ross crossed that line. If you’re gonna be with guy [Diddy] who killed Tupac, you can’t go turn around and do a record [called] ‘Tupac Back’…Rick Ross is a grown ass nigga. I’ll beat the dog shit out of Rick Ross for manipulating these people out here.”

Prodigy of Mobb Deep talks about the supposed beef with group member Havoc, saying it’s not real.
Prodigy has now spoken out about the supposed Mobb Deep beef, which has been in the news recently.
It all started with Havoc, Prodigy’s group member in Mobb Deep, taking shots at Prodigy on Twitter. The whole thing was pretty ridiculous, Havoc confirmed, then denied that it was actually him tweeting.
Prodigy recently sat down with Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg for their Morning Show on Hot 97, and Rosenberg confronted him about what actually happened, asking if it was all a publicity stunt, because Prodigy has a book and two new singles coming out.
Prodigy says, “I can’t even tell you how it happened. All I can say is that, when we got down to the bottom of it, me and Hav realized what was going on, we knew it was all bogus you know what I mean. So we kept kinda quiet, we ain’t say nothing about it, we ain’t get up on Twitter and be like yo,right away it’s bogus, so that’s probably why people think we set it up or something, you know what I mean. But we just waited for a minute.”
Prodigy clarifies that all the original tweets from Havoc were fake (i.e. not tweeted by Havoc), upon Rosenberg asking.
“Me and Havoc’s businessmen,” explained Prodigy. “We stepped back and was like, ‘Alright, how can we use this to our advantage?’” Admitting they kept quiet about the “beef” on purpose.
“We were like, ‘Alright, we got a record about to drop,’” he added.
Rosenberg responded, “So you’re acknowledging that once it became big, you said, ‘We might as well milk it for what it’s worth,’” which Prodigy then confirmed.
